October 2008

Dear Briarcliff Neighbor,

You've seen the outside of our new Village Library. Now, step inside and imagine wandering the stacks in search of a great read, sitting among 80 people in a beautiful new lecture room, or reading with your children in our colorful, comfortable children's room. Early in 2009, Briarcliff's new crown jewel will be ready for these and many other uses.

We are so proud that Briarcliff will finally have a state-of-the-art library that is reflective of the Village's history and character and will be a cultural focal point for our community. Moreover, the library expansion demonstrates to our children that we value providing them with a safe, comfortable and inviting place to explore literature and the arts.

Members of our community have already pledged or donated almost $650,000. We certainly appreciate the extraordinary generosity of these caring citizens. However, the Friends of the Briarcliff Manor Public Library, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt organization, still need to raise $350,000 in order to reach our $1 million goal.

We realize that given the current state of our economy, this is not the best time to be asking our community for financial support. Especially in difficult times, however, the Library represents a valuable resource accessible to the entire community -- one that will greatly enhance both our own lives and the attractiveness of our Village as a place to live for years to come.

The list of naming opportunities shows how you can honor a relative or friend, or express your personal support for the Library. Every dollar, every donation is important. All contributions are tax-deductible, and you may take advantage of any matching contribution opportunity your employer provides.

We are counting on your support to help us raise the remaining $350,000 in the coming months. Please act now and please give generously to this one-time campaign.
